About the role
Prognitif is a cutting-edge biotech startup dedicated to creating innovative hardware and software solutions that enable communication through bio-signals. Our mission is to give people with speech and motor impairments a voice, while improving the quality of life of those around them.
As we are a very early stage, self-funded, and small startup, we are looking for a fresh mind with a generalist view of tech solutions to join our Engineering team and build it up from scratch. If you feel comfortable working at the intersection of embedded systems, (bio)signal analysis, full-stack applications and applied maths (including AI, of course), this role might be a fit for you!
This position ranges from entry level to intermediate candidates, since we value interest, passion and self-drivennes more than technical knowledge - the latter will come at a fast pace in such an exciting project!
No need to mention - it is OK if you do not have experience with all the items below, nor we expect you to become an instant expert on the technical nitty gritty, but your arrival aims at starting to move at a really quick pace, so being a fast-learner and a go-getter is a must too.
Some generalities
- Since we are building the outline for a strong team in the long run, we prefer candidates interested in spending several months, even years with us. If there’s something else coming down your path in the short run (e.g. you’re starting a PhD in 3 months, or you are planning to spend 6 months in Australia this year), you might want to reconsider your application.
- No doubt fully remote makes things easier, but since there are many things to outline in little to no time, and they also involve hardware and experimenting, we are going to start in a hybrid setup i.e. 2-3 days a week on-site in Medellin.
- Given our early stage, our suggested hiring model is Contractor (USD). This means you manage your social security expenses. We can help you make that process smoother. Should you prefer any other model, we would check the accounting requirements and adjust the salary value to include social security expenses.
- This position also supports university internships (abiding by the first item on this list). If you are interested on doing it that way, we can check through your university requirements.
What you bring
Must have
- English language (from B1 is fine)
- Proactivity: you are not afraid of self-managing your time and tasks, and can learn and make well-based decisions on your own with a research-oriented mindset
- Communication: you can communicate clearly and effectively your ideas and blockers, and are not afraid of being wrong as long as you are respectful and keen to learn.
- General understanding of human bio-signals and imaging acquisition systems: EEG, EMG, EKG, PPG, MRI, tFUS…
